How Often Should I Have Botox Injections

Botox injections can be effective for individuals of any age. However, to achieve the optimal results, you will want to have botox injections at the right frequency. This treatment is not meant to be a permanent solution to aging and you will begin to see wrinkles if you do not continue to receive botox injections. There are many factors that can effect how often you should receive a botox treatment.

Your Age Affects Your Treatment

When you are younger, you will not need botox treatment as often because you will have fewer wrinkles. However, it can still be beneficial to receive this treatment because you will be able to avoid the formation of new wrinkles.

Building Up A Botox Resistance Is Unlikely

It is possible that you may build up a resistance to botox treatments. Fortunately, this occurs very rarely and most patients will benefit from additional botox treatments. The problem of botox resistance has occurred in so few patients that it has not been possible to study the phenomenon and you will be unlikely to suffer from this.

The Frequency Of The Botox Treatment Improves Results

For most patients, the results of the botox treatment tend to last longer for patients who have already received such treatments. The muscles that contribute to the formation of wrinkles become weaker and will slow down aging. Ideally, you should receive one botox injection every six months for optimal results. Receiving botox treatments more frequently than that will be a waste of time and money as it will not improve the results of the treatment.

Your First Botox Injection

If you have never received a botox injection before, your doctor will likely use a lower botox dosage initially in order to see how your body responds to the injection. When your doctor can see that you are responding normally to the botox injection, you may be given a larger dosage. The second injection is typically within 3-4 months. But eventually, you will be advised to receive a botox injection once every six months.

Better Skin

Botox is the most effective when also using sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. The sun is one of the most common factors that contributes to the formation of wrinkles. Spending less time in the sun, such as going tanning less often, will also reduce the formation of wrinkles. Staying hydrated and eating a lot of antioxidants will also help.
