What You Need To Know About Coolsculpting Treatments

If you've reached a weight loss plateau, or you have a major event coming up, Coolsculpting treatments may be right for you. Coolsculpting is a form of noninvasive body contouring that freezes fat cells. It's a nonsurgical procedure that allows you to get the results you want and get right back into your usual activities.

How Coolsculpting Works

Coolsculpting procedures are typically an hour long. Your doctor will start by marking the areas to be treated. Next, your doctor will place a very thin, damp sheet over your skin. After the sheet has been applied to your skin, your doctor will use a handheld Coolsculpting device over the sheet. At the end of the device are flat metal plates that will freeze your fat cells. The device will also suction the area to be treated to ensure it freezes the cells in the targeted area.

The treatment doesn't require much activity on your part, so you can feel free to relax. Many Coolsculpting patients read or nap during the process. Most people report feeling coolness and possibly a slight pinching sensation during the procedure.

After the procedure, you'll experience some redness and swelling in the area that was treated. As the area heals, you may feel some discomfort up to several days after the procedure. Due to Coolsculpting being a nonsurgical procedure, you'll be able to get back to your usual activities immediately.

Seeing Results

If you choose to undergo the Coolsculpting process, you will typically start seeing results within 30 days. The results from Coolsculpting treatments are permanent. These treatments freeze and kill off fat cells in the targeted area. Your body then naturally absorbs and eliminates them. However, this doesn't mean that you can't gain weight. Your remaining fat cells can still increase in size through natural weight gain. You may have to undergo multiple treatments to see your desired results.

How To Know If You're A Candidate For Coolsculpting

The ideal Coolsculpting candidate is not obese. However, the ideal patient is someone with noticeable fat deposits on their body they want to be reduced. Coolsculpting targets specific areas and isn't necessarily the best option for all over fat reduction. For many Coolsculpting patients, they find the procedure to be a safer alternative to liposuction.

If you're wanting to know more about Coolsculpting treatments, you should speak to your dermatologist. Meet your dermatologist for a consultation and they will be able to advise you if Coolsculpting is right for you.
